We hope everyone reading this had a great 2nd Quarter. Although the second quarter of the year is typically our quietest one, we had a productive spring supporting some longer-term projects, including a tank rehabilitation project for a major oil and gas company and a wind energy maintenance program, amongst others.
In May, we also broke our internal record for the highest number of customers we have support across a 48-hour period.
With some new larger multinational customers this quarter, we also found ourselves doing a lot of work on compliance and standards, and so we thought we would make this a topic for our newsletter this quarter.
Compliance and Standards
Whether it’s maintenance work in your home or a project at work, we all know how frustrating it can be when an external contractor is unreliable. Maybe they arrive late or turn up without the tools, parts or skills that you need.
For this reason, many of our customers are now using external compliance platforms to help them check competence, currency and the reliability of their contractors before they step on site.
These independent organizations review critical parts of the contractor’s operational performance, such as operational management processes, health and safety policies and procedures, the qualifications and currency of staff, their business continuity, and whether insurance policies are appropriate, amongst other important factors.
At Tundra, we are currently registered and current with Avetta, ComplyWorks / Veriforce, the SAP Arriba Supplier Network, Compass Operations and Contractor Compliance; and we are pleased to announce that our status at ISNetworld has recently upgraded to RAVS Plus Participant status.
ISNetworld’s RAVS Plus is an enhanced level of due diligence intended to ensure that “what is written on paper in a contractor’s safety program is being implemented in day-to-day operations”.
Participation in these platforms does add a little extra administration to our daily workload, but we welcome it because it is a way for us show off the time and effort we have put into our management systems and procedures and demonstrate that we are committed to doing things right as a contractor company that aims to make a positive impact on our customers’ projects.
In addition to our compliance work, we continue to remain enrolled and active on the WSIB Health and Safety at Work Excellence Program, after a successful first two years on this program.
The WSIB Health and Safety Excellence Program aids in maintaining an internal culture, knit into the operations of Tundra Rescue, that prioritizes health and safety and shows our customers how seriously we consider compliance and worker health and safety in every project we support.
Initiatives like these are very complementary to our work on standards and compliance, too, and directly raise the quality of the services we are able to provide.

Looking forward, our third quarter is already looking like it is going to be as busy as it has ever been for us, so please reach out to us today for a quote on your work project and to secure our experienced technicians on the calendar for your site!
